Hi Orchid, Does anyone have a source for lab grown white diamonds.

The Science Channel has a show called “How They Do That” and
Saturday it had a short segment of a company down in Florida that has
a process where they have these machines that produce heat and
immense pressure. They start with a small carbon seed. They
specialize in yellow diamonds. I don’t remember the name of the
company because I suffer from CRS and I was watching my grandson at
the time so my attention was divided.

There are three companies that come to mind, the one in Florida
(yellow stones, so not what you’re looking for) one in Connecticut
(IIRC, and they do vapour deposited white diamonds, but are very
secretive, googling “created diamonds” will get you closer), and one
in the former USSR which I don’t know much about at all, but have a
small hand full of stones from (all in the 1 to 1.5ct range, whites
and pinks all IF etc.), which I got as a “reward” so testing a batch
of suspect stones, don’t ask it’s something I’d rather forget now!!!

Here are some links I have…

http://www.jewelryimpressions.com/chatham/diamond.html
(white, yellow, pink and blue?)

There was an article I read early last year in an e-zine version of
a computer magazine (but I can’t recall the name) which lead me to
some of what I have detailed above, the rest is too vague to be worth
typing up.

Good luck, Thomas.
