Jewelry programs in the Greater Chicago

Was: Welcome New Members for March 27, 2009

Dear Mary Schultz (and others in the Chicago area),

There are several good options for jewelry programs in the Greater
Chicago Metropolitan Area, if you are willing to make a reasonably
short drive.

The Evanston Art Center has a wonderful schedule of day and night
classes in jewelry, held in an older but well-equipped studio in
Evanston. The Art Center (TAC) in Highland Park also has a good
program. Both centers are about a half-hour drive from Palatine. In
Chicago, Lillstreet Art Center, on Ravenswood and Montrose Avenues,
has a large studio and a varied program, and is about 45 minutes to
an hour away from you. The College of Dupage has a newly renovated
studio at the school in Wheaton… NEIU (Northeast Illinois
University) has a fine up-to-date studio, and an extensive jewelry
program. The campus is located in Albany Park. Closer to you, Harper
College would be a place to investigate, as well as College of Lake
County, and the McHenry County College. If you are willing to spend a
little time researching, I’m sure you will find a place that suits
you.

One other suggestion would be to contact the Chicago Metal Arts Guild
@chicagometalartsguild.org We’re always glad to meet other metal
artists, especially those from the “neighborhood”

Good luck!
