How best to sell pendants?

Hi All

Got this question from someone. Any thoughts?

We were looking for some advice on how best to sell pendants,
whether there is anything unique to showing, selling and
displaying pendants compared to other categories. Any ideas or
lines at all would be a big help

From experience, I have had it pointed out to me that if it’s a
pendant, make sure you display it with a chain. Why? Because some
people cannot visualize it as a pendant if they don’t see it attached
to a chain. They may not like the chain it’s displayed on, but a
chain can be changed out.

The most important thing about displaying jewelry that I can think
of is to not display it on a totally flat surface. Design your
display area in 3 dimensions to create interest. It doesn’t matter
whether you use risers, draped fabric, jewelry busts or other props,
get it up off a flat surface.

People have to be intrigued and visually stimulated enough to go see
the jewelry more closely. If people are 4 feet from the jewelry,
they can’t see what’s on a flat surface, nor are they particularly
inclined to investigate.

Not necessarily unique to pendants but…

Get them to try it on! Then show them with a mirror how it looks.
This can be a powerful tool. So much of jewelry is how it makes the
person feel when they are wearing it so get the to try it on if
possible.

but make sure you let them know the chain is a seperate price if you
are showing the pendant with it, lol i got into a bind on one of my
first sales, I had left and my mom handled the sale (my fault of
course)I should prepared her better. I didnt lose much but if therre
had been more people there i could have lost alot because of
"included chains"
