Cleaning pickle pot

When I left the studio late one evening I forgot to turn off my new
pickle pot. I was not able to return for several days. Result:
pickle pot solution burned out and left the removable ceramic pot
inside black and dirty. The electrical metal container for the
ceramic pot still heats.

I have tried scrubbing out the ceramic pot. But it is still black
looking.

Question: Is there a good way to clean the pot?

Question: If it can’t be cleaned, will the black stuff dirty metals
placed in a new solution?

Question: Should I just throw the pot out and buy a new one?

Thank you

When I left the studio late one evening I forgot to turn off my new
pickle pot. I was not able to return for several days.

Done that a few times myself, I usually just put water back in it and
let it heat up again. I am using Sparex. I did notice I got a worse
black scum than normal, but scooped it out with an old pair of
pantyhose stretched over a copper wire loop. Another thing I notice
after these episodes, the copper has a tendency to come out of
solution so I take a piece of silver scrap pierce it with a nail and
leave it in the solution for about 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
Use as normal after that.

don’t know about cleaning the pot but thought it a good idea to
recommend a timer in your outlet…like the ones to turn lamps on and
off when you are gone…use one of these and save your pickle pot. MF
