Cleaning Mexican fire opal

A customer has gotten a rubbery mess on the back of her Mexican Fire
Opal. I have been able to remove most of the larger parts but I am
having trouble getting the little bits that are remaining - any
suggestions for a clean up?

Thanks in advance Leslie

try fingernail polish remover, or gumoff.

A good soak in acetone or paint stripper. Mught take a while, but it
won’t hurt the opal.

Soak a q-tip in acetone or nail polish remover and apply it to the
area. Gently scrape away with a blunt dental tool or something
similar, but be sure it is blunt, or it may scratch the opal.
