There is another one: Aluminum and Aluminium. I don’t think either
is write/right/correct/admirable/worthy/reliable etc etc. They are
both just as valid.

Yes, for all the difference they both look the same when you read
at a normal rate, (aluminium is spelled the way we say it here). I
was earnestly informed recently that jewellery is spelt jewelry (I
think it was a person of the USA persuasion).

Regioanal differences aside I’m generally against poor spelling.
So far those that have made claims on this list for giving the poor
spellers a break have been not so bad spellers themselves actually.
I don’t care how people edit their text as long as they get rid of
the terrible spelling errors.

Okay I don’t insist on great spelling, but wen evry thid wird is a
efort to red I tento giv up redding.

It’s a communications skill, like speaking, and who here
appreciates a mumbler?
