Hi Richard, IMHO, I think that everyone should use a sigline with
at least their name, email address, and generic location. When
someone replies to an original post, their personal email is lost
from the header, so you can save a message, only to find you have
no way to reach the originator later on except through the list.
While I second Carol’s suggestion of using .sig’s, I’d like to
plead with people in advance to please use SHORT .sig’s. With
orchid’s extensive footer, huge chunks of page end up devoted to
what’s essentially bibliography, detracting from content.

Now here’s one for all USA people. You all know what CA and NC and
TX and OR all mean, but to some of us out here in the Rest Of The
World the US State initials are not so meaningful. (When I once
used an abbrev for my country I was asked which state NZ was.)
Please extend the abbrev. to the full state name at least.
I like Marilyn’s ‘Midwest America’. Suddenly I can identify
the area. And if someone’s from the Southwest I get out my
Tony Hillerman novels.

Brian,
Please, please do not identify the TV show Dallas with the real
Dallas. I’ve never seen an oil well, lived on a ranch, or stabbed
someone in the back (I think that’s what they did in the show, I
never found it interesting enough to watch.) The Dallas I know is
roads heavy with traffic and glass buildings with people working.
(I stay here because family is here.)
