So someone says to me today, “Oh, garnets and rubies are exactly
the same composition, it’s just a difference in translucency,
and garnets aren’t unless they’re cut very thin…”
ARGH! This is very possibly the most crackball story anyone’s
ever told me. Anyone want to share their wacko horror stories,
if it’s not too far off topic?

ARGH! This is very possibly *the* most crackball story anyone's
ever told me. Anyone want to share their wacko horror stories,
if it's not *too* far off topic?
How 'bout the lady who was convinced that white gold and yellow
gold could not possibly come from the same mine…
Or how 'bout all the folks that believe EVERYTHING they have
heard on the T.V. shoping channels about gems and jewelry, and
refuse to accept that their local jeweler might sometimes know
just a bit more the “tooty” the T.V. salesgirl. many of these
same folks are the ones who cannot understand why hand made
custom designed pieces should not be priced by the gram next to
the imported machine made herringbone and superflex chains.
And this thread, of course, could go on a LONG time…
