Body Of Work: A Figuarative Jewelry Intensive with Julia Harrison

As site-specific sculpture that is “installed” on the body, jewelry
has a heightened potential to provoke, comment, resonate, or
commemorate. In this workshop we’ll look at how jewelers from many
times and cultures have looked to the body for ideas, imagery, and
raw materials. Through a fast-paced course of themed exercises, we’ll
then design, create, and document a small, cohesive and intensely
personal group of pieces inspired by the human form. Students will be
encouraged to use their own favorite techniques or a range of quick
modeling methods demonstrated by the instructor, including
assemblage, felting, and paper construction. Expect to end the
weekend with one finished piece and/or a series of models for a new

This workshop runs Saturday October 13 9:30am-5:00pm and Sunday
October 14 9:30am-5:00pm. Breaks will be provided. Bring your lunch
or purchase from local restaurants but plan on returning on time so
you don’t miss a moment of this great hands-on workshop!
