Chasing and Repousse course in the italian style with il maestro

Under the careful tutelage of Italian master Fabrizio Acquafresca,
learn chasing and repousse

in the Italian style. Through the proper use of various specialized
tools, students study and implement the classical Italian approach
to transforming sheet metal into reliefs and other works of art.
Students will begin with a dragonfly relief, but should also come
prepared with a jewelry design containing fruit, a floral pattern or
an abstract image to realize in metal. This course has no
prerequisites and is open to students of all levels.

Fabrizio Acquafresca, hailing from a long line of artists and metal
craftsmen stemming back to the seventeenth century, works in his
studio in Florence, Italy. He has taught this course, as well as the
advanced Special Techniques in Chasing & Repousse, in England, the
United States and throughout Europe.

Chasing and Repousse: Course in the italian style with fabrizio

Learn

chasing and repousse in the Italian style. Guided by an Italian
Master who is heir to a long lineage of metalworkers, students learn
the Italian approach to creating reliefs and forms in sheet metal.
Students learn to make a several specialized tools specific for this
such as iron prick-punches.

Instruction

includes various sawing and piercing techniques. Participants begin
by creating a dragonfly in relief, followed by the design and
executing of the design of their choice.

Students should bring a jewelry design with fruit, flower, or
abstract image.

There are no prerequisites for taking the course.

3 DAYS COURSE

1 day: Beginning of practical execution a project assigned by the
tutor. a dragonfly

2 day: Cut a piece of metal in the measure of vessel 18cmx8cm
(silver or copper, students choose). Elaborate a new project of your
choice, still the guidance under the guidance of the tutor and start
with make chasing and repousseing two flat sheets

3 day: Forming, soldering the 2 parts together, cut a disk for the
base and soldering, hammering and finishing.
