Fold Forming: Part of an approach to metalworking termed ‘Forming
Using Metal Characteristics,’ and developed steadily since 1980,
Fold forming is a system of metal forming which is the concrete
result of a conceptual approach to metalsmithing that emphasizes
forming using the metal’s characteristics. Rather than forcing form
upon the material, forms are derived from the natural plasticity,
ductility and elasticity of the metal. At this point the system is
internationally recognized as a new approach to working metal.
