Filigree Wirework: Plique-a-Jour Workshop
Pendant & Earrings
Instructor: Diane Almeyda
August 8=9612: 9 am=965 pm, M-F

Plique-a-jour is the only enameling technique in which the glass
enamel is not backed by metal. It resembles miniature stained glass
and is sometimes referred to as “backless cloisonne.” In this class,
various ized wires are shaped and soldered into a filigree framework
that is then enameled “in air” (no backing) with transparent or
translucent enamels.

Prerequisite: basic soldering and jewelry skills, including sawing
and filing

Handmade Chains
Instructor: Susan Elizabeth Wood
August 6 & 7: 9:30 am =96 4:30 pm

The ability to make a chain liberates the jeweler from the
limitations of commercial chain designs. This workshop focuses on
the design and construction of a variety of chain forms, including
basic link and link pattern variations, Etruscan (loop in loop), and
woven chains. The materials fee covers handouts and a link-making
kit, including link-making mandrels and jig and solderite pad.
Prerequisite: none
