Patterning Mokume Gane with James Binnion

This three-day patterning workshop focuses primarily on the
techniques of patterning mokume gane laminates using burs. This
class is for those who wish to work with pre-laminated mokume gane
stock and explore patterning. In this class you will create patterns
in 3-mm-thick laminated sheet and then forge and roll it into final
flat patterned sheet. Students also make a ring from bar stock cut
in the star pattern.

Jim Binnion is recognized as one of the art metal community’s most
gifted makers and is also a respected engineer and innovator in the
technical metals field. Jim is one of the world’s authorities on
patterned metals and the science of jewelry making. He has taught
numerous classes and presented a number of technical papers at the
Santa Fe Symposium on Jewelry Manufacturing Technology.

The workshop will be held July 18-20, 2016 in Salida, Colorado at
Judy Hoch’s Studio. The workshop fee includes materials and some
special tools, a complete tool list along with some other details
will be sent to participants upon registration. Lunch will also be
provided.
