What kind of goodies are you all getting for the holidays? If any?

Yeah I just had a tip break yesterday because I didn’t polish with my I think it’s called Arizona Stone

Probably Arkansas stone. Attached is a link to one, but it is only an example.

You might want to spend some time on the following two websites. There is a lot to learn from both of these discussion locations about engraving. Steve Lindsay and Sam Alfano both do amazing work as do many of the people who contribute to these discussions. If I had another lifetime, I might spend it learning to engrave. Lots to learn, good luck…Rob

Ok awesome. Waiting on them to ship

I have been using this press steadily as I get ready for my Spring Art Fairs. I am very pleased. But I bought it for pretty much one purpose. Drill tiny holes for earring wires. It excels so far at that task.

Make sure that the 3/32 square Lindsay gravers, once sharpened with the Lindsay sharpening system, will fit into whatever handpiece you are using. If you have a Lindsay handpiece, this won’t be a problem. The entire Lindsay system is based on a 3/32 square graver. There are ways around this, but it all comes back to 3/32 square graver material. I have ground 1/8 round down square to fit Lindsay templates and made 3/32 square sockets out of brass tubing and fitted them with 1/16 round carbide bits to fit Lindsay templates. The best way to use the Lindsay sharpening system and handpieces is to buy 3/32 square HSS, M32, M38 or Carbalt graver blanks. There is a lot going on here and you need to understand it before you waste money on gravers that won’t fit your handpiece…Rob

Thanks Don!

What do you use as a vise?

Hi,

Interesting to learn about 3/32 square blank…i did not know that…

i learned alot about shaping square blanks to make V gravers at the GRS training center (70,90,120 degree)…

GRS has a few different collets, that accept various sized round and square blanks, as well as their QC pre- shaped gravers in various profiles…

Thanks, there is a lot to learn to learn and only one life in which to do it…Rob
