Why not try specializing in Australian opal. particularly free
form cut using boulder opal and free form doublets. The design
potential is incredible and nowadays people are looking for
something different. conventional shape facited stones have a
limited design potential but if you use small diamonds or white
sapphires (which I can get) in conjunction with opal, the effect
is tremendous.
