I have been a lapidary for over 30 years–mostly cabochons, but
faceting as well. I have always been fascinated by shiny stones, but
it wasn’t until I went to Australia that I learned how to cut them.
Although I took a course from the local lapidary club in Alice
Springs, NT, my real education came from a quiet Australian who was
one of the best lapidaries I have even met and knew more about
gemstones than anyone I’ve known or any scholar I’ve read.
I will write more when I read more biographies of the other members
on this site.
