My interest in jewelry making led me to a two day intro class with
Richard Paille of Seattle, a long time jeweler and owner of Paige
Tools. His insights have inspired me to pursue a more in depth study
of jewelry making. As a husband, father of two and a full time
residential general contractor, my educational opportunities are
limited to what I can achieve in my spare time (which, as for most
of us, isn’t much). Per Richard’s suggestion, I am joining Ganoksin
to connect with people, ideas and resources that might help me in
getting started. I look forward to hearing from anyone who might be
able to inspire, educate or otherwise entertain.

I’ve been making jewelry for about 6 years. I love to use natural
materials such as raw stones, fossils, bones, and antlers. I
recently, about a year ago, taught myself how to carve antler and
bone with a dremel. I love incorporating my carvings into my jewelry
now! Even more recently, I took a metal-smithing class and learned
the basics. I really enjoyed it and am saving up money to buy more
tools and materials, but I’m still a beginner. I’m looking forward
to learning more from this forum!

would like to learn more from others. I love working with sterling

tropical flowers. My jewelry designs, several of which have received

Hi Everyone,

My name is Lori. I have never heard of this web site. I found you
all after visiting an Etsy jewelry store. The artist said she had
learned more from this web site than others so I had to check you
out.

I took a beading class about 15 years ago. It was really fun. I
started beading. It became a great excuse to close the door to my
office and get creative for a few hours. My kids are gone now and I
find myself wanting to graduate into metalsmithing. I took a class a
couple years ago and enjoyed i t. I decided instead of spending a
bunch of money on classes, I would buy the equipment and teach
myself. I bought a whole lot of equipment but after I wasn’t sure
what to do with it. Uh. Maybe not such a good idea. I realized
reading a book is not the same thing as hands on help. I am still t
rying to do it on my own. I am not using silver anymore but brass
and copper. I am practicing and progressing little by little. So
here I am on your blog hoping to ask questions and smooze with all
you gurus. Thanks for letting me be part of your world.
