Melissa Chan
Singapore
Hi, I’m Melissa and I’m a second year student from Nanyang Academy
of Fine Arts, Singapore, majoring in Jewellery Design.
It’s kind of a dream come true to be able to be studying in this
course, as I’ve always been drawn to jewellery ever since I was
young. I look forward to being able to participate and learn from
this fantastic website and forum.

I am just starting out with setting up my own business. I work
mainly in silver though I would like to learn more about working
successfully with resin as well. I would also like to learn the art
of enamelling.

I’ve been working in the jewelry industry in one way or another for
the last ten years, though the last four have been focused on bench
jewelry and jewelry design. After a frustrating search for both
training and employment, I am trilled to have been recently offered
both together! I began doing beadwork at age 10, during a beach trip
full of rainy days, and was hooked. At 18 I began working at a
beadstore, and within two months I was teaching classes in
wireworking. At 23 I took my first metalsmithing class, and I fell
in love. I knew that I wanted this for a career, and to be
accomplishing that goal is a wonderful thing! Eventually, I’d like
also to be a designer.

Good Morning. I am Duane Baysinger. I have been a jeweler/metalsmith
for 30 years. I also do other forms of artwork, such as stained
glass, engraving and sculpting, large and small. I have a small
retail studio in Southeastern Kentucky. Since I am the owner, I also
clean the toilet and vacuum the floors, however, I do not do
windows…I have someone else do them. I was part of the Orchid many
years ago and am glad to be back.
