My work until recently has been mostly forging iron and steel
(blacksmithing) on a larger scale. I’ve recently started using
copper, silver and gold and incorporating both glass and stones in
my work.

Hi I’m very new to making jewellery and about to take the plunge and
pay out hard earned money to start building up a tool collection.
Pretty scary and worried about making the wrong choices!

Eileen Adele Vicente
Lea da palmiera, Portugal

I have been a Special Education and English teacher most of my life.
About five years ago, I moved to Portugal. I didn’t think it would
be difficult to teach English in this country, but I was quite
surprised to find that I could not. The interested students just
didn’t appear. As a 67 year old woman who needed to make a living, I
began to look for a way to do so. One day, I stumbled on wire
wrapping jewelry. It was love at first wrap. People admired my
jewelry when I wore it, so I decided to take a course in it. Now, I
wonder where jewelry making was all my life. I am sorry I missed so
many years of my life not enjoying this field. Well at least I found
it now. It is better late than never, right?
