Metalsmith. My work is mostly etching. I’ve concentrated on Hebrew
and symbols. I’m a believer in talismans and lucky charms, the
cereal as well as great pendants.

i am a hobbyist and living history buff who is currently learning
silver jeweler’s skills. My goal is to make really cool stuff to be
able to recreate historical jewelry.

Michael Derse Baer
Green Bear Metal Works
Montrose, CO. USA

I am a formally trained 61 year old goldsmith. I am a hand
engraver,a gem setter and a good steady torch man. I’m in the book
under JEWELRY DESIGNERS. I apprenticed a studio after absorbing all I
could from the art department at University of Wisconsin@Oshkosh
circa early 70’s. I’ve tried home studio away from home studio and
working for other people at their studio.

I’ve always had my tools set up somewhere all these years. Odd jobs
to make ends meet over the years include fishing guide, stone mason,
dishwasher to head chef, wood hewer, snow maker and iron/steel
worker.

I’ll work’till I can’t see. I like making things and that’s good
because I still am thrilled to be at the bench. This is studio#11

I’m just starting metalsmithing class at the New Brunswick College
of Craft and Design in Fredericton, NB. Metalsmithing for me is a
hobby and I find it very intriguing. I have spent most of my free
time in the last few months reading literature and looking at videos
and playing in my basement studio/workshop. It’s a nice way to clear
my mind from my daily computer job.
