My passion is jewelry. I am for the most part a self taught artist. I
started in beaded jewelry about 9 years ago and have progressed into
silversmithing which I adore. I am like a sponge, always wanting to
learn something new. I have been silversmithing for about 1 1/2 years
now and do not see it stopping anytime soon. I am still learning as a
silversmith so advice is welcome. I travel around to regional arts
and crafts show to sell my jewelry and I have two websites. One is
isabelledesigns.com and the other is isabelledesigns.etsy.com. My
biggest headache with silversmithing is soldering. Getting the solder
to flow sometimes makes me want to pull my hair out. The books make
it sound so easy, but it is NOT easy. I did spend 2 days with a
Silversmith about a year and a half ago, and she was great! I learn a
lot, but I still find that I have a lot to learn. I am happy to be
part of your forum and look forward to getting lots of good advice

I live in Oregon. I’m setting up my studio right now. Have renovated
my garage and set it up with water, heat and a hood. I am working
with enamels, silver, and a little gold. I really enjoy forging and
construction. I am a member of Seattle Metals Guild. Would love to
find out if there is an active guild in Oregon.

I am a novice metalsmith. I have taken classes but I do not have a
huge amount of time to devote to practicing things I have learned.
My husband has built me a studio and I am slowly filling it with
equipment. I guess my dream would be to be a designer and jeweler
full time…For now I need input, tips and practice!!
