To help solve your heat contol problem find a sewing machine foot
switch. I have one attached to my wax pen (a mater touch model) which
has a very fine rheostat contol already in it, but with the foot
switch I can turn the power off and on for an incredible amout of
contol.Applying heat only when I want it and at the exact second of need.
