Hi all,

I will be taking a 3 week trip to Italy this June and will be based
in the Venice area for 1 week. Does anyone out there know of
terrific jewelry related places to go?

there is a jewelry store on the walk from the Accademia bridge to
the Piazza San Marco. They offer estate jewelery by the likes of Van
Cleef and Arpels, Cartier etc. Some of these pieces are truly master
works, particularly some of the Platinum pieces. You should check it
out.

Hello,

Does anyone out there know of terrific jewelry related places to
go?

it happens that Venice is 50 km from Vicenza, one of the three
italian’s hotspots of contemporary goldsmithing. It’s a pity you’ll
came to Italy in between two very big-and-important shows called
VicenzaOro (mid-may and mid-september); but the center of the city
is - I think - full of shops and retailers. Otherwise, you’ll find a
show called Argenti (Silvers) in Padova, in june: but I don’t have
any idea of what it can be.

Jennifer,

Don’t miss the back of the main altar in San Marcos basilica. Not
only is it encrusted with thousands of rubies, sapphires, emeralds,
and pearls, it is also one of the cities best kept secrets.

Vicenza also has their show in January, the 14 thru 21. It is called
Oragemma, I am going again, it is a pretty interesting show.
Picchiotti, Hafner, Palmiero, Roberto Coin, Mikimoto, Damiani etc.
They are all there.
