Using steel wire following Schweder's book

Ok, I am reading and I am playing around with my Hillman steel wire
from the hardware store.

Her book calls for 16 gauge and mine is 19 gauge. I have shaped/bent
some figures and then forged with rawhide, rubber and finally metal
hammer on steel, and still the wire is not work hardening to the
point that wearing is not going to pull it out of shape. Online, I am
seeing galvanized steel wire, do I want to use galvanized? Can anyone
suggest wear to buy steel wire if the hardware wire is not correct?

Also, can I torch enamel steel wire?

thx!

The wire that you want is called tie wire. They sell it at the big
home centers in the rebar section. At your smaller True Value/Do it
Best/Ace type hardware stores it is in the wire section. It is black.
Wonderful to work with.

You might try using music wire. Also available at the hardware
store, usually in 36" lengths,

It will be much harder to form, but will hold it’s new shape much
better.
