Today is the end of one year and tomorrow the start of another. Along
with the new year, comes the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show and the
Annual Tucson Orchid Dinner and Silent Auction. As you make your New
Year’s resolutions please think about supporting Orchid a little more
in 2007. One simple way of doing this is to make a donation to the
Silent Auction. The Silent Auction accepts donations of all kinds-new
tools, used tools, personal art, raw materials, books (new and used),
future services, magazine subscriptions, gift certificates, and the
list goes on. There must be something you can contribute, something
you no longer use, have no room for, have an upgraded model, have too
much of, etc., etc…
I will be posting info on this event and details on how and where to
send your donations over the next few weeks. I look forward to
hearing from you and seeing many of you again at this year’s Tucson
Orchid Dinner.
It’s almost time for the Annual Tucson Gem and Mineral Show and that
also means the largest annual gathering of Orchidins—including
Hanuman. It is also the time for the 2007 Tucson Orchid Dinner Silent
Auction. The Silent Auction is an integral part of the social and
financial components of this dinner. Every year, we try to make the
silent auction a little better and a little more profitable. All the
money raised goes to the operation of the Ganoksin website.
We can’t make it better without your help. Please consider making a
donation—be it a tool (used or new), a book (new or used), a
subscription, a service, stones, jewelry, jewelry supplies, etc. Did
you know that the post office will provide you with a free box (about
12"X11"X 3" or 10"X8"4"), and for about $8, you can ship whatever you
can fit in the box anywhere in the US (regardless of weight). I
challenge you to find something you no longer need and to donate it
to the silent auction. You can send it directly to me:
Pat Glover
8230 E Cloud Rd
Tucson, AZ 85750
Or, bring it to Tucson and drop it off at Rio’s Catalog in Motion
Registration Desk before noon on Friday the 2nd of February. I’ll
take care of everything else. How easy is that!!
As much as I wanted and intended to get together with many of you,
its just finances a.k.a. dollars! I tried to reason with my inner
self to warrant the cost. I tried to see how much it would be, it is
excess of over $1,500.00++…just a tad too much from Toronto.
In lieu of this, I have donated some little gifts to the 'Silent
Auction". These gifts are 5 packages of ‘revised’ Setting Books and
with each come with 25+ pages of setting notes. Not too mention a CD
on “How to Sharpen and Grind a Graver”. My setting book comes with
many diagrams and pictures to read and enjoy!
Last Call for the 2007 Tucson Orchid Dinner Silent Auction!
There is still time to make a donation to the Silent Auction being
held at the Tucson Orchid Dinner On Feb 2, 2007.
Mail it to me directly, drop it off at Rio’s Catalog in Motion
registration desk (I will pick up), call or email me and perhaps I
can arrange to pick it up at one of the other venues, and last option
is to drop it off (EARLY) at the actual dinner. Remember all
donations to the silent auction are welcome and very much
appreciated. If you have any questions, contact me.
