[Tucson 2006] 10th Annual Orchid Dinner

Please join us for a friendly and relaxed evening of networking and

Dinner:

Several major trade events in the US provide occasions when Orchid
members meet outside the virtual world. Members of the Orchid Forum
gather together for dinner, allowing an opportunity to put together
names and faces.

An Orchid Event helps all of us in dispersing about
Ganoksin and its vast resources. Additionally, the group mind of
Orchid comes together to strengthen our community and share in
common experiences.

Attending an Orchid Dinner is your time to interact with other
Orchidians, relax after a long day and an opportunity to meet people
from trade publications and suppliers. Every year the Orchid Dinner
grows in popularity and is fast becoming the “must attend event” for
gem show enthusiasts!

325 Orchidians attended the ninth-annual dinner event sponsored by
Rio Grande and held at the Savoy Opera House in Tucson, making it
the largest and most successful Orchid gathering yet. This year is
especially exciting as we are are celebrating a decade of Orchid!

The Savoy Opera House, Located in Tucson’s historic “Trail Dust”
section, is a complete recreation of authentic, turn-of-the-century
charm based on the famous Savoy Hotel in London. Enter the Savoy
Opera House through the intricate wood and beveled-glass, French
doors imported from the original hotel and bask in the light of
elegant Victorian chandeliers, traditional opera boxes, antique
back-bars and pressed tin ceilings.

Please find couple of hours during the show rush, to attend the
dinner, to have a relaxed evening and to make new friends.

Returning this year is “Orchid Shares”, a special table set aside
for postcards, brochures and catalogs. If you have to
share, please bring it with you to the Dinner.

I am looking forward to see you at the dinner!

Orchid Silent Auction

Each year a silent auction is held at the Tucson Orchid Dinner to
raise funds to help maintain the high costs of Ganoksin’s servers
Titania and Soi11. These servers house thousands of technical
protocols, video, Bench Tips, Galleries and the Orchid Archives.

Members of the Orchid community make great donations to this very
worthwhile annual event. The silent auction creates a lively
interaction between orchid members with furious bidding among
participants as well as raises money. Donations come from “newbies to
giants” in the jewelry profession, as well as companies of all sizes.
Both new and used items are acceptable. Here’s a great opportunity to
clear out your studio of those odd-and-ends, and help support Orchid
at the same time.

Put an orchid on Your Bench
Hanuman

Hi All,

Well, Tucson has come upon us again. The Tucson Orchid dinner is here
too, and with it the chance to meet your Orchidian friends, to put a
face to a name and to chat, have some drinks, eat and spend time
together. Hanuman and Ton are there this year, as am I, and lots of
others. Pat Glover is tirelessly putting together the silent auction
(if you want to donate something now is the time!).

We need to get a good handle on who is coming so please register as
soon as you can to help us in the final planning moments.

Registration is here: http://www.ganoksin.com/events/ (Deadline
February 1)

Thankyou and looking forwards to seeing you!

Charles

Hi All,

Amazing, the Tucson Gem Show and the Orchid Dinner are just right
around the corner. Where did the year go? I can’t believe I’m leaving
in just a few weeks for Tucson, but it’s an event I look forward to
every year.

In case you have been thinking about registering for the dinner and
haven’t gotten around to it, the tireless organizers of the dinner
and the silent auction need your help.

The deadline for registering for the Orchid Dinner is FEBRUARY 1!

http://www.ganoksin.com/events/index.htm

The sooner the better, since they need to communicate the final
numbers to Savoy Opera House. Orchid has to account for those extra
meals for late registration, and this means less money for Orchid.

Remember to donate to the Silent Auction! Clean out those closets,
benches and storage closets. We know you have been meaning to make
some great jewelry with all those stones you bought last year and
never used, but somebody might have just the perfect design for them.
Bring them along! I will bring another great muffin pan just waiting
for a great recipe with your coffee or a hot cup of soup. The great
thing about the Silent Auction is anything goes. Some come on Orchid.

http://www.ganoksin.com/contact/silent-auction.htm

Can’t make it to Tucson this year? We still have something for you!
How about a raffle ticket. There are still some left and for only $39
for over $8,200 worth of amazing goodies? Such a deal!

http://www.ganoksin.com/events/raffle-06.htm

But wait, there’s more! Sumner Silverman has carved in wax a
beautiful model of the Ganoksin logo. Orchid contributor and generous
supporter, Dan Grandi of Racecar Jewelry will be casting them in
sterling silver. Pins will be available at the Orchid Booth at
Catalog in Motion and at the Orchid Dinner. Show your support of
Orchid and Ganoksin and purchase a pin!

I look forward to seeing all of you at the dinner!

I look forward to meeting many of you at the orchid dinner and
putting some faces with the names. Even though I am fairly new at
this forum, I have been impressed by the knowledge and skill that is
giving as great advice. I will be on my way to Tucson starting 1-31
so I won’t be able top check on the pre-show hype, but I can guess
it will be less than the super bowl’s pre-game hype! Have a great
weekend!

Have a nice day
