Gas pipe chain making?

Has anyone tried to make a gas pipe or tubo gas chain? From what I can tell it is two strips of thin, flat (I think) metal wrapped around a flattened copper core. I don’t know if the tension of the two flat strips holds it together if they’re interlocked, I’m just really not sure how it’s done, but I would love to have any input seems like a pretty difficult part would be to get a long enough flat strip. I guess you’d have to have two people on your rolling mill keeping tension on the length of the flatten wire, so it doesn’t curve like crazy. If anyone has any experience with this technique, I would love to hear it. It started I think in the 1940s and I’ve seen some brief videos by Bulgari but it looks like they have their flattened wire held on some kind of spooling machine. I did find another website in Italy of someone who said they make it by hand. I emailed him, but he didn’t respond.Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you’re talking about gooseneck tubing, that stuff is invariably machine made. It’s possible, though not really worth the effort, to assemble the pre-formed strip into tube by hand, but only for round tubing. Flat gooseneck, as is usual for bracelets and necklaces, cannot be made by hand as the interlocking flanges will certainly kink when bent around the narrow radius at the sides.
The component strip itself must be produced by purpose-made rollers. Though it might be possible to form the strip by hand between a pair of swages or by dies in a press, the cost in time, tooling, and general effort would put the price so far above that of machine-made gooseneck as to make it economically unviable.
