I thought you might like to know about a DVD series that the
Goldsmiths Company has produced.This is a series of Master Class
DVDs.
They have now produced six so far. I can have just received my copy
of No 6 which is called an introduction to diamond setting. The ex
Cartier setter, David Basford is teaching method sof diamond setting.
If you are interested in silversmithing I can also recommend the
Master class DVD no 2, which is a lesson in hand raising given by the
master silversmith Chris Lawrence. The others in the Masterclass
seriesa Re: No 1 is Hand forging by Richard Cook. No 3 is
Hallmarking.
No 4 is Rapid prototyping. No 5 is Polishing and finishing. Each DVD
costs 15 including postage for UK customers.

I recommend anyone who has not had the advantage of watching a master
craftsman at work to check out these DVDs, I know that I learnt a lot
by watching others at work, during my long career within this trade.
