[Tidbits] Le Duck

Le Duck

At what time of day does a duck lay its eggs? Why does one hang a
dead duck upside-down? How much duck down is required in order to
ensure conjugal fidelity?

These and other grave and serious questions have plagued the
enlightened mind for eons past and will still weigh heavily on the
minds of those who have had the misfortune to miss this issue of
Tidbits for eons to come. For the rest of you … those of you
fortunate and wise enough to take but a scant few moments out of
your busy lives to peruse these few paragraphs … to you will come
the delights of incredible knowledge.

Did I mention I have a gem-set brooch by Cartier which was designed
as a duck? Did I mention that I tend to enjoy the off-beat and the
bizarre? Ahh … this little Tyke fits the bill well … no pun
intended.

Ducks only lay their eggs in the morning. One hangs a dead duck
upside-down so that one may allow evil spirits to easily escape. In
order to ensure conjugal fidelity … one bolster of duck down will
suffice.

Tyke has an 18 karat yellow gold body set with an oval, blue-stained
chalcedony. Tyke wears a chalcedony beret. He has a ruby eye. His
feathers are textured. I say this … if Maurice Chevalier were to
be re-incarnated as a duck … methinks he would look a bit like
Tyke. Any of you know who Maurice Chevalier was? Hmmm? “Thank heaven
… for little girls …”

Duck eggs taken into a house after sunset are no good and will never
hatch. If your duck lays dark brown eggs … it will bode no good
for your household … unless you destroy the duck immediately. A bit
unfortunate for the duck perhaps … but your household will not be
plagued with all manner of evil things. If a duck flaps his wings
while swimming … clouds or no clouds … rain is on the way. And
last but surely not least … should someone bring less than a
handful of violets to a farmer’s wife … destruction will come to
her entire brood of ducks.

Should you be in the business of farming or raising ducks … the
above is clearly invaluable. If you are in the jewelry
business … or if you love jewelry–especially if you like buying
it from me–then might I suggest you hasten with great alacrity to
view Tyke-the-Duck.

For those of you who are new to this thing called Tidbits…may I
direct you to my home page at www.tyler-adam.com where you will
scroll down the left side menu till you get to the area that says
Tidbits Graphics … and then click on the link that says: Duck …
where you’ll see an image of an 18 karat yellow gold duck brooch
designed by Cartier.

And there ya have it. That’s it for this week folks. Catch you all
next week. Benjamin Mark
