[Tidbits] He Does it Again

I have always admired David Webb’s work. He does animals like no one
does animals. His stuff is exquisite… even when you don’t know what
the devil it is that he’s done. So how can I resist returning every
once in a while… especially when it’s to show you something that can
not be defined.

Anybody out there titillated? I proceed. It’s a bangle. It’s made of
18 karat yellow gold. It consists of a pair of animal heads made of
carved and fluted rock crystal. The heads contain pear-shaped ruby
eyes. The bodies are also formed of rock crystal… tapered and
accented with gold pear-shaped spots. In today’s market I would guess
the bangle is worth over $14,000 U.S.

Each of the creatures is chomping on a gold ring. Tug-o- war? Dunkin’
donuts gilded pastry? Simply an anchor to keep the creatures in place
while some lady wears the fantasy beasties on her wrist? These are the
mysteries of life that often torment my troubled soul and keep me
wide-eyed in the middle of the night while the rest of the world
indulges in innocent slumber.

I could use a little help here. Are they horses? Are they kissing
reptiles of anachronistic birthrights? Are they just shapely globs of
perfectly formed translucent material reminiscent in a distant way of
all four-legged mythological and real entities that roam and once
roamed the earth?

A little assistance here folks. Don’t let me flounder. I’m awash and
up to my neck in fluid mystery that threatens to fill my lungs with
ever thickening ignorance and obliterate once and for all my capacity
to breathe and bring yet another enticing and alluring issue of
Tidbits to your bejeweled reading lamp.

So let’s hear it for the old Gipper. Let’s give him a straw … a
twig… something to hang on to in a roiling ocean darkness void of
knowledge. Hip hip…

For those of you who are new to this thing called Tidbits…may I
direct you to my home page at http://www.tyler-adam.com where you
will scroll down the left side menu till you get to the area that says
Current Tidbits… click it… and you will see represented on our
pages a bangle with creatures of undefineable characteristics.

And there ya have it.
That’s it for this week folks.
Catch you all next week.

Benjamin,

I say they are mythical monsters munching while guarding a treasure.
Don’t test them. They will turn and munch on you.

Benjamin, you should give writing lessons. Your writing is so
creative!

Thank you again for sharing a masterpiece of jewelry and a
masterpiece of word smithing.

Best regards,
Mary

Are they horses? Are they kissing reptiles of anachronistic
birthrights? Are they just shapely globs of perfectly formed
translucent material reminiscent in a distant way of all four-legged
mythological and real entities that roam and once roamed the earth?

Why they’re dinosaurs, of course (?). Holding onto the golden ring
of evolution.

I took a look at the bracelet, and those critters have got to be
snakes.
