Test for silver

Hi, A friend has purchased a bracelet through an auction site. It
stated in the sales pitch that it was sterling silver, it also has a
925 ‘tag’ on the catch. She has asked me if it’s really sterling
silver - and I’m unable to help her. Is there a test you can do to
check?

probably an acid test would be best. test kits are available from
many of the supply houses. melting does not seem to be a viable test.
