Thanks so much for the many thoughtful responses I have received to
my questions on teaching.
I have decided to really try to be open with the students. I want to
able to share the techniques that I have picked up along the way
without fear that they might copy me. I don’t want to limit the
classes like that. I have submitted a proposal for a “basics” class.
I introduce the students to 5 or 6 techniques that I use. I show them
examples incorporating the techniques. Then I let them take it from
there. If they want to copy one of my samples, that’s ok. If I can
spark their creativity at all and they start thinking of their own
projects, that’s even better.
