I have, in fact, been limiting my use of the ss mesh strainers to
ultrasonic for fear of the hinge material contaminating pickle. But
I often have lots of teeny tiny parts, and that completely-enclosed,
superfine mesh sure would be nice for acid…I actually seem to
recall seeing one in a jewellery supply catalogue—rather pricey,
but maybe because it really was all ss for acid use rather than the
usual inflated prices of jewelry supply store’s hardware-store
items…

Hi Janet, For holding really tiny parts in pickle, I bought a piece
of fine mesh stainless steel screening from Small Parts
(http://www.smallparts.com/) and bent it to make a cup shape. It
works great, even for granules.
