Swiss torch gas pressure settings

hey guys!

Does anyone know what the correct oxygen and gas psi setting
is/should be for the Swiss Torch Hoke Style Head?

Also too, what is the correct setting for the little torch with a
size 7 head? People in the shop say put gas and oxygen up to 9 psi,
other people say put it up to 7, no clue.

There is no “right” pressure. The more pressure means more oxygen is
in a mixture, and that means higher temperature - until you reach
maximum flow that particular tip handle. If you are looking for the
maximum, it can be determined experimentally. I opt for the minimum
configuration. I use #5 tip, which was enlarged, so I have no idea
how it compares to #7. My regulator is set just bellow 5 psi.

I have just finished posting on Ganoksin blog about possible
modification to the torch tips.

Two things I have to mention. If you are someone who uses casting
torch to replace prongs on 10-pointers, you probably would not be
interested.

Absolutely no testing of how safe the modification is, were
performed. The only reason that I am still around is due to my
enhanced ability to duck, when things start flying around. You may
want to keep it in mind.
