Did you put the glue on the outer edge of the settings to keep the
glue from getting in the joint? 

I dipped the side of the tube setting in the glue, then placed it
with a tweezer, onto the dip I cut in the band.

Then I soldered the other band to the settings.

Of course it didn’t go as smoothly as the photos depict. But the
glue helped nonetheless.

Thank you to all those who offered suggestions on my problem with
epoxy viscosity. It appears that Riogrande has a low viscosity epoxy
adhesive that I’ll be trying.

Oooh. so you only glues the settings down on the one side to hold it
still to solder on the other. That makes sense!
