Sterling is tarnishing in ultrasonic

Recently our ultrasonic cleaner has begun tarnishing our silver we
put in there to clean. Temperature is set to about 60 C. The silver
tarnishes within a few minutes. We use Ajax dishwashing liquid as the
cleaner. We’ve cleaned the ultrasonic, cleaned the basket and
replaced the solution. Everything still tarnishes. Ideas? We can’t
figure out why this has started happening.

Try a lower temperature. I have had the same problem. I attribute it
to soap, ammonia and high temperature.

Regular soap or ammonia will not tarnish silver at any temp. It
takes sulfides to tarnish silver.
