[Source] Thin stained glass?

Hi all, Since we’re on the topic of sources… Does anyone know of a
supplier for thin (1-2mm) colored glass? I’ve found sources for
dichroic in a variety of thicknesses, but no one I’ve contacted
carries translucent colored glass. Thanks in advance for any
suggestions, Matt

Matt, Try Bullseye Glass in Portland. I believe they make a thin
rolled fusing glass in many colors.

Matt: What you might be looking for is called Wasser glass. It was
very popular for making jewelery because of its extreme thinness. It’s
been a number of years since I purchased any, but what I have left is
about as thin as a floppy disc. I buy my glass from the folks at
Sunshine Glassworks 1-800-828-7159. They are a wholesale glass supply
house so they may not sell to you direct unless you have an account,
but they always are helpful in answering questions. If they don’t
carry what your looking for I’m sure they’ll put you on the right
track.

Happy Slumping,
Leslie

depending on how you are using it, you might also consider getting
thin plain glass, and using glass staining pens to color it. I know
you can get them at Michael’s (a craft store). After baking, the
glass can even be put htrough the dishwasher without harm, so it’s a
stable way of coloring glass, and allows you more artistic freedom
than mosaic’ing stained glass.

Matt, i don’t know if this will help you, because this is a Canadian
source, in Kitchener, ON. Perhaps these people can point you in the
right direction if they don’t have what you’re looking for
themselves–they boast they are the largest supplier of stained glass
in Canada: Schilling Stained Glass Company Inc. website:
