A friend is going to South Africa next month and would like to
purchase high quality sugilite rough while there. Does anyone know
where she might find some?
I was in South Africa last Fall and was very disappointed in the
lack of good rough, not only sugilite, but others as well. I did see
great rose quartz and citrine, and lots of African jade. If you can
go north to Namibia, there’s much more to choose from, especially
malachite and dioptase. Actually, some of the most beautiful I’ve
ever seen. Of course, I was near Johannesburg, and things might be
different near Capetown.
