[Source] Sterling silver rivets

Hi All. I’d like to find some solid sterling rivets. I know you can
make your own, but I’d love to find some pre-made. There was some
discussion of this circa 1997 in the archives, but no one had an
answer then. A google search found places that list them, but then
don’t have them when you call.

Anyone know of a source? Thanks!

Allan

I think Tom Mann sells them (he probably buys them though from a
vendor!) I bought them at least ten years ago from this company but
am not sure if they are still in business- they sold me some nice
18karat gold ones and I believe i bought some in sterling as well.I
still have a very few in a box with their name ion it:

Grainger Co., Inc. - Lake Forest, IL

World Fasteners has them too but I beleive they wanted me to buy
over a few gross…nonetheless here is their

World Fasteners, Inc. - Hampstead, MD

here’s a link to all the suppliers in my database that sell sterling
or precious metal rivets

by the way, happy new year Alan!

one of my favorite places, i spent a whole day trying to find
somewhere that had mini rivets, they don’t sell silver as it seems
buy maybe you could do a special order?? can never hurt to ask, maybe
if you supplied the metal? i would find out since they already make
them it may not be a proglem??

You can make your own faster than trying to find some one who sells
them. Take a length of silver wire. Hold it with tweezers pointing
down. Heat the other end until it starts to ball up on the end.
Place the wire in your draw plate or any hole in a metal plate approx
the size of the wire and use your hammer to flatten out and form a
head. Cut wire to length and start over. You can make a half dozen in
less than 20 minutes. It is easy and quick.

I had some made by a company in the UK

We needed a large quantity and they made I think approx. 1000 for
us. We supplied them with hard silver wire the correct diameter, in
our case 1.5mm and they formed a domed head on one end and a counter
sunk one on the other end. We made up a steel tool to bell out the
counter sunk end and rivetting was so simple and quick. You could try
your more local rivet manufacturers perhaps supplying to the
aerospace industry.
