[Source] Stainless steel sheet or flat wire

Hello to all,

I am incorporating small pieces of stainless steel into a design,
and cannot find stainless steel in “jewelry size” stock. The
smallest I’ve found is 1/8" thick X 1/4" wide strips. I need 1mm or
less thickness, and no more than 3mm width, in various lengths.

I’m hoping someone in this forum will know of a source.

Thank you in advance.
Tess

Hi Tess … try Micromark … I think they have all kinds of things
that you will find useful.

I’m not sure what part of the world in which you reside but a source
might be a hobby store, specifically one that caters to model train
fanciers. I have found aluminum, copper, brass and I seem to recall
seeing stainless stock in various gauges and sizes. It may need to
be cut down to the thickness you require but in that guage a light
shear or in the case of the very thin stainless stock an old paper
cutter should work.

This might be a little off the mark but…depending if you want to
go this route or not you could try a medical suppler of medical grade
metals, then you can get some surgical grade steel. I know they will
sell to jewelers if you buy enough, but there minimum order may be to
much for you. Or you could see if there is any jewelers in you area
that make body piecing jewelery and ask if you can buy a little of
there stock. This might not be what your going after but maybe it
will give you some new places to look for your metal.

Hi Tess,

Just guessing, but why don’ t you try Orthodontic suppliers, they
make orthodontic braces, maybe they might have what you need.
