[Source] Half round tube

Greetings from Namibia,

I’m looking for 18ktyw 1/2 round tube 8 to 8.5mm on the flat side;
the arc should be 4.5 to 5mm high, wall thickness 0.6 to 0.7mm. If
anyone has a supplier for this please let me know.

Kind regards,

it is easy to make just pull it though a half round draw plate or run
it though a round mill with a flat plate on bottom. i guess you could
also cut it long wise and solder a flat piece. but that seams like a
lot more work. i would try the draw plate first with a smaller size
diameter as it will distort when it goes through.

hope this was help full. think i will give it a try to see how it
works but it will be a few days.

best wishes
Jen

Two ideas…

Clamp a piece of steel with a polished edge 1/2 way blocking a round
hole in a draw plate. Move and repeat as needed (Not a tested Idea
but easy)

Make a 1/2 round draw plate. Drill, file, semi polish etc. Semi
decent steel or better a good idea but for short runs almost any be
OK. I’ve done this and it does work well for large oval and square
tubes.

A draw bench is really handy for either, even a boat winch and 2 X
4’s. Maybe con a large friend if you only need a short piece once

Thanks for the tip Jen,

But we were looking for a supplier of machine made 1/2 round tube to
avoid the process of milling…
