SolderPure filtration system

Hi all,

I’m wondering if anyone owns or has experience using Rio’s
"SolderPure" solder fume filtration system? I’m moving my shop and
trying to make the new shop as healthy as possible. I’ve never seen
one of these in action but it looks like it could be a healthier
alternative to my old simple soldering hood/fan set up. However, it
could be one of those very expensive gadgets that looks good on
paper. I’d love some feedback if anyone has experience with this or
any similar system. Thanks much!

Karen i would think that a traditional ventilation hood with fume
vented outside would be preferable. If you are concerned about the
loss of heat/cooling then I would suggest that you discuss this with
your HVAC contractor, there are heat recovery units which should
help. This avoids the need for filters which will add to the cost of
running an air recirculating system.

Ask yourself how you are going to test whether the filters need to
be changed, or are you going to assume that they will last for a
predetermined amount of time regardless of usage.
