Soften up polishing compound bars

Dear All,

Can anyone tell me how I can soften up some bars of Triploli and
Rouge polish that have got dried out?

Rouge polish that have got dried out?

If they are wax based, one thing that was suggested to me and turned
out to work was wrapping the bars in foil, and putting them in a
very low oven until they are warm to the touch, then let them cool,
wrapped in the foil. The heat pulls some of the wax out of the core
of the bar and evens out the distribution. Since then, I store my wax
based abrasives and polishes in zip bags, and they don’t dry out.

I use a 1 gal zip bag, and bag the buffs in individual quart or pint
bags that go into the 1 gal. That way all of my tripoli buffs are
stored with the tripoli, etc…
