Silver plate - recovering the silver

Is it possible to recover the silver from Silver plated objects? Is
there a company that provides this service?

I may be wrong, but the amount of silver plate on anything, even if
it’s “thick silver plate” or “triple silver plate” is so miniscule
that it’s not worth processing.

you would need many pounds of plated items to render an ounce of
silver.

A friend of mine is in the business of buying and processing low
grade scrap here in the US; silver plate, gold filled, and the like.
I think he’s paying somewhere around $2.00 a pound for silver plate.

Yes it’s possible but it would cost more for the refining process
than what the silver would be worth.
