Almost anything can be plated with the proper preparation.
I suggest you talk to the folks at Krohn Industries. They’re very helpful.

It can be done, but it’s complicated. I’ve done my fair share of plating over the years and if you don’t have much plating experience you might want to pass this particular project on to a professional plating company.
The pprooces for plating leather baby shoes is to coat it with a spray that has powdered metal in suspension. Then it is able to accept deposits. so almost anything can be plated in this manner there are other places this is an example…~~*Stv
