Hi,
i originally mentioned this topic in a post about micro files, and bandsaws…!…so i thought i would post the resolution on a post about air compressors…
i have a Silentaire Sil-Air 50-15A AL air compressor (oil) 1/2hp, 4 gallon, 40db that i purchased from GRS Tools almost 20 years ago…
it recently developed an issue: it would not build pressure past 20psi…it stalled around 20psi
i called GRS and they referred me to Silentaire Repair Dept.
I must say that my issue was resolved and my experience was a solid 10+…! The technician was knowledgeable, succinct, patient, and gracious!
The technician went step by step and guided me thru the troubleshooting process. It took just a few steps to isolate the issue, which ended up being with the check valve…i just had to remove some hoses, to be able unscrew and remove the check valve, remove and clean the little rubber plunger (that was in pristine condition) clean out both sides of the connection (which were also pretty clean) and put the plunger back into place and screw the check valve back on, and reconnect some hoses…i am guessing that the plunger just needed to be re-seated…?…
the above is not offered as technical advice, i just wanted to illustrate that the troubleshooting support was relatively pain-free, and my issue was resolved.
although my air compressor was on the pricier side, it has been running for over 20 years and hopefully it will continue to run for many more.
i am very satisfied with my investment so far.
now back to bandsaws🤣
