INSTORE Magazine Looking for the Best Bench Jewelers in the Country
Competition a chance for a free trip to The SMART Show Chicago
(CHICAGO, IL) JANUARY 23, 2013: The SMART Jewelry Show is seeking
applicants to compete in its live INSTORE Bench Pressure Challenge
competition held on April 13 - 15, 2013, at Chicago’s Navy Pier.
Sponsored by Stuller, these head-to-head battles see the best bench
jewelers in the country face off against each other and the clock in
a series of timed events.
The SMART Show is looking for artists based in North America to
compete in its two competition categories, the All-Around Challenge
and the CAD Challenge. In total, eight bench jewelers will receive a
free trip to the April show.
On Saturday, April 13, the four INSTORE Bench Pressure CAD Challenge
contestants will fire up their computers for two tests of their
ability to design to a customer’s specifications. The work will be
judged on creativity, presentation, sales skills and how well the
final designs meet the requirements. An overall winner will be
determined based on the combined scores of the two events. Sponsored

On Sunday and Monday (April 14 and 15), four different bench pros
will go hands-on in the INSTORE Bench Pressure All-Around Challenge.
The three contests will stretch the bounds of their creativity as
they demonstrate their skill in setting, wax carving and a special
challenge sponsored by Palladium Alliance International. At the
conclusion of the three challenges, an overall winner will be
crowned.
Taking place on the floor of the jewelry show, this competition
highlights the expertise and craftsmanship required to turn basic
ideas into brilliant finished pieces. With overhead monitors giving
the audience an up-close view of the action at each bench
workstation, as well as Joel McFadden a third-generation jeweler and
regular INSTORE contributor returning to host the activities, these
competitions are as interactive as they are informative.
Contestants will be selected based on their education, experience
