Serrated Bezel Cutters?

Hi, I’ve recently been using serrated bezels, the saw tooth ^^^^^ pattern. Problem is the heaviest I can find is 26ga and I prefer heavier at least 24ga. I sometimes file them but it’s labor intensive and I tend to cut too big.

It’d be great to find some kind of shears to cut than pattern but I have never seen them. I remember my mom used some heavy duty scissors (pinking shears?) that cut this pattern in clothe but way to big for bezels.

Even other shaped cutters would be great!

Ever seen them?

Thanks!

I don’t know if there are shears that go as small in the teeth as standard serrated bezel. I’m thinking of what I knew as pinking shears ages ago, that are basically scissors with sawtooth blades. I have made plenty of bezel cutting pancake dies, and even some serrated ones, but I can’t saw as sharply or as fine as standard serrated bezel. Close, but no cigar. I do have lots of other bezel designs for this kind of die.

I purchased 3 different pairs of ultra small serrated shears from Ali Express to cut bezel edges 5 years ago but haven’t yet tried them.

This is the order info for one of them. The ones I received are sturdy but, since I haven’t actually used them, can’t guarantee that they’ll work

Well, when are you going to try them ? :upside_down_face:
I’m pretty curious now . I think good ones should cut thin metal well. It’s like with
RT/pancake dies, where a tight fit makes for dies that cut thin metal cleanly. I
have used the analogy of a pair of scissors a thousand times -that a loose die or die made without compensating for the cut that makes the die by (sawing) the die at a specific angle
is like a pair of loose-fitting scissors. It can allow metal to pull in and stick , or leave messy burrs. Given my experience with cheap scissors, I’m somewhat suspicious that cheap pinking shears might end up presenting the same problem.

I bought a similar type of castelation took several years ago from ESTY. They are a simple spacing tool that allows you to cut four different sized spaces. Following should be a link to the seller…Rob

I reached out to a friend who works at Rio Grande to ask. He suggested pinking shears to cut a serrated bezel.

After that I googled fine cut pinking shears. It looks like 3 mm pinking shears are the smallest. I can’t see them, so I’m not 100% sure, but I think they might be what you need. Amazon sells 3 mm pinking shears as well as other folks.

Hope that helps!!

I have seen videos of punching teeth into a saw blade with a flypress. A table top machine used to be made by Foley, and others: called a re-toother. Probably overkill, but a similar die setup could be used with just a lever.
