The Indutherm casting machine has only been used 5 times, and the Phase Perfect digital phase converters time counter will show its barely been used as well. This equipment was first purchased with a partner for a business venture that unfortunately didn’t materialize. After completing GIA’s Graduate Gemology program last year, I set this equipment up with the intention of learning casting and finishing. The plan was to cast my own jewelry while providing casting as a service as well.
However, my direction shifted. Shortly after setting up the studio I decided to jump back into another class at GIA and enrolled in their Jewelry Design and Technology course. I became immersed in learning 3D CAD for jewelry and before long my interests started shifting towards creating steel sculptures using CNC machines. I also moved to Los Angeles recently to continue to study digital modeling.
The Indutherm machine is something that has been really special to me. I think it is truly interesting how it uses electromagnetic induction to melt metals in only 1 to 2 minutes and then overpressure and vibration tech to create incredible castings. Nevertheless I’ve made the tough decision to let it go to help fund my education and research phase and go all in toward developing my new sculpture company idea.
When I say the Indutherm was only used 5 times, I mean it, and you will be able to see that in how clean and new it looks, which goes for the rest of my equipment as well only being used a handful of times and some of it totally new.
