School in LA?

Hi -
I’m a “newbie” to jewelry making/silversmithing and want to find a school to
learn more from in the Los Angeles area. When I lived in Boston I attended
an evening course in a community college on jewelry making and it was great.
But I am unable to locate such a school or an art school in the LA area by
going through the Yellow Pages.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Appreciate any help!

Cheryl: probably your best bet and the cheapest for getting started in
silversmithing if find your local rockhound club/ gem and mineral society/
lapidary club etc. I got my first good training at our local club for 40
bucks for 12 days of knowledgeable training and went from there on my own.
Most of these clubs have classes off and on in silversmithing or can refer
you to a club member who teaches …Dave

Hazeltine School is in Pasadena (818)568-9545…Most good Universities
offer some jewelry courses also…G.

If you look up El Camino Colledge In Torrance you will find that they have
one of the best Jewelry Coledge cources in the whole UAS. The classes are the
best in all of the Junior or full Colledged in the Los Angeres basin.
I went for 4 semisters to a Professor by the name of Oliver and he was and
still is one of the best in the whole UAS.
Don’t waste your time going to a jewellry class at a local school .
Give me some feed back with your search. Hope this helps .
